Activating Your Service

Go to the Republic of Ireland

Be sure that your phones battery is charged

Remove the SIM chip from the SIM chip holder and insert the chip into your GSM Phone with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs (you will usually find your phone's SIM tray underneath the battery of your GSM cell phone).

Turn on your phone

Key in your 4 digit pin code supplied with the pack, and you are ready to start making and receiving calls.  

Adding Talk Time

Additional Talk time for your sim card may be added by purchasing call credit cards, or slips at most convenience stores and petrol stations and post offices. Call credit for your meteor sim card is available in €10, €15, €20, €25 and €40 denominations

Your call credit voucher will have a unique number. Dial 1742; follow the instructions, and when asked key in your voucher or card number into the keypad of your cell phone and your call credit will be automatically added to your prepaid sim card.

Every time you top up (add airtime to your Ireland sim card), you'll be able to make calls for 6 months (or while airtime credit lasts) and receive calls for 12 months (for FREE in Republic of Ireland).

Access to Voicemail is free from your Meteor Ireland SIM card, by dialing 171 from the Republic of Ireland. You will need to be Topped-Up (min. 1 cent) and within your service period to access Voicemail.

Coverage in Northern Ireland:

Your Meteor SIM card will work in Northern Ireland, but it will be roaming on one of the foreign GSM carriers so roaming rates will apply. These tend to be at least 20% more than regular and vary among different roaming partners. When a Meteor customer intends to use their mobile in Northern Ireland they MUST call 1905 from their mobile phone and inform Meteor customer service. One must have at least 60 euros of credit on their phone. Meteor will then lift the international call barring on the phone. You can get roaming rate information from the Meteor customer service rep.

When you buy your Meteor SIM card you can call Great Britain, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Northern Ireland, EU zone, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

To call most other countries te following applies.: If you have used your initial call credit and have topped up, just call Customer Care and we will set it up for you. If you have not used your initial call credit and have not topped up you will need to make an advance payment of €60 using any of our top up methods.
